Honeypot checker
A honeypot token is typically easy to buy and hard or impossible to sell. CryptoScout does not run its own chain simulation engine. As a Telegram crypto analytics bot, it asks public providers — primarily Honeypot.is buy/sell simulation and GoPlus security flags — then maps those results into the same token security checker report you already use.
There is no separate “honeypot-only” command. Open Tokens (or /token) and read
the security section: honeypot detected, sells blocked, and related tax figures when the
simulation returns them.
How honeypot / scam detection works (high level)
-
For supported EVM chains, CryptoScout calls Honeypot.is
/v2/IsHoneypotwith the token address and chain ID. The provider simulates a buy and a sell. - The bot records whether the result is flagged as a honeypot, whether the simulated sell succeeded, and buy/sell tax from the simulation when present.
- In parallel, GoPlus may also report a honeypot flag on the same EVM contract.
- If either source says honeypot, CryptoScout treats the token as honeypot-positive (the flags are merged conservatively). If both sources flag it, the Risk Engine can add a “confirmed by several sources” signal.
- If GoPlus and Honeypot.is disagree, the Confidence Engine records that conflict so you can see that the public data is not unanimous.
A “no honeypot detected” line means those providers did not flag the token in this run. It does not mean the token cannot trap sellers later (hidden fee changes, blacklist, paused trading, or liquidity pulled after the check).
Networks for honeypot simulation
Honeypot.is in CryptoScout is wired for:
- Ethereum
- BNB Chain
- Base
- Arbitrum
- Polygon
Solana token checks use RugCheck (mint/freeze authorities and related risk), not Honeypot.is. TRON token security is still limited to address validation in production, so there is no honeypot simulation path for TRON yet.
What else appears next to the honeypot flag
Simulation tax and sell-blocked status sit beside market context from DEX Screener (pair liquidity when a pair is found) and contract-owner signals from GoPlus. That is why CryptoScout frames this as a scam token checker only in the narrow sense of public indicators — not as a court of truth. Liquidity can look fine while sells still fail; sells can succeed in a sim while holder concentration or an active mint remains a problem.
How to run a honeypot check
- Open CryptoScout in Telegram.
- Run a token check for an EVM contract (Tokens menu or
/token). - Read the security block and the listed sources. If Honeypot.is is in “missing sources”, the simulation did not return.
No wallet connection, no swap, no private key. If you need the address’s balances rather than one contract’s sell-risk, use the crypto wallet checker.
Limits
- Third-party simulations can be wrong, rate-limited, or unavailable
- New tokens may have no pair, so market context is empty
- CryptoScout is not an audit firm and does not guarantee you can sell
- Token security checker — full risk and confidence report
- Crypto wallet checker — public wallet analysis
- CryptoScout homepage — DeFi analytics and product overview

Honeypot signals ship inside the token report. Public simulation in — explainable flags out.
